A Family's Love for the Sport
Our family has a long-standing commitment to soccer. I began playing at the age of seven and continued through college as a Division I athlete with the Towson Tigers, where I also met my husband, who played for the men's team. His experience includes playing for the Philippine National Team and the Brighton Youth Academy. He currently coaches at Pipeline Soccer Club, a reputable youth organization. We have two sons, Lucas (7) and Jaxon (3), both of whom share our enthusiasm for the sport. Lucas plays for PSC and trains regularly at The Soccer Factory, where we became acquainted with Chuck Travis (co-founder of TopBinz LLC).
1v1 Soccer Event Inspiration
Recently, Lucas was watching a YouTube video featuring “The Streetz Football”, a 1v1 soccer event in England, which showcased an energetic and engaging atmosphere. Observing the excitement and camaraderie, we recognized the potential to introduce a similar event in America. Through our connection with Chuck, we proposed the idea, and he readily agreed to collaborate.
Our 1v1 Ballerz Cup event provides participants with an opportunity to demonstrate their abilities in a highly competitive yet enjoyable environment. It is designed to ensure that all players, including those who may not receive extensive exposure, have a platform to showcase their skills. We also want to emphasize the importance of 1v1 battles at the youth age groups which we feel has been lost in the modern-day coaching sessions of players in this age category. Our aim is to also foster confidence, encourage learning, and create a supportive atmosphere free from bias or political influence. The priority is for children to enjoy playing and gain valuable experiences. No coaching, players making their own decisions and problem solving as they go.
Reconnecting with Harford County's Soccer Community
Following the recent loss of both my parents, who were devoted supporters of my soccer journey, I reflected on my desire to re-engage with the sport. Founding Top Binz LLC and organizing the 1v1 Ballerz Cup allowed me to reconnect with the soccer community and contribute to memorable experiences for young athletes and their families. Also, with the generous help from our sponsors and our young promoters such as Gatorade player of the year Dan Klink and Jacob Murrell from MLS club DC UNITED - who happens to be a Harford County native - we were able to make this possible which we will be forever grateful.
About the Top Binz Tournament
This event targets elite club players in Maryland and neighboring states, offering a chance for top talent to compete in 1v1 matches. Only one boy and one girl will be named the premier baller in their age group. This approach reflects contemporary soccer by emphasizing creativity, individual skill, rapid decision-making, steadfast defense, swift transitions, resilience, and self-confidence.
Registration for these events are open now. Opening night will take place on Wednesday, June 3rd starting at 5:45 at Cedar Lane (Bel Air) with vendors, food and drinks, US soccer videographer and a DJ. Attendees will get a chance to cheer on the 2014 boys and girls participants as they will be battling that night from 6-8pm. It is welcome to all families even if their child is not participating that night. One of our goals is for the community to come together and cheer on the future generation of this sport. Each Wednesday until the end of July, we will host a different age group of boys and girls with a winner in each receiving a trophy and a Ballerz jersey.
