A Note from Julia | August 5, 2026

Reflections and Updates from the Publisher

By Julia Capallo, Publisher | Macaroni KID Bel Air, MD August 5, 2026

It’s hard to believe that August is already here, and I hope you’ve had a wonderful summer so far. The end of July marked my first full year as the publisher for Macaroni KID Bel Air! In that time, I’ve had the opportunity to meet other local parents, host and participate in various community events, and connect with amazing businesses and organizations in the area who cater to the needs of local families. I organized my first community event (Spring into Wellness Community Fair) in March, and plan to hold it again in 2027. Other upcoming events I’m currently working on include a kids’ entrepreneur fair in October and a camp fair in January. Stay tuned for more details. Please reach out if you’d like to collaborate!

What you can expect from the Macaroni KID Bel Air publications:

Some of my goals through Macaroni KID Bel Air publications include:

  • Sharing local stories- There are several in the Articles section on our website and on the landing page. Macaroni KID HQ also shares other relevant articles of interest. Some of our recent articles include Ways to Spark a Love of Reading, A Local Wellness Practice, and Financial Tips for Growing Families.
  • Sharing curated lists of family-friendly events- Each week, I send out an e-newsletter full of upcoming local events. I typically focus on free/low-cost events, as I know the cost ticketed events can really add up for families. I also create Weekend Roundup posts (when I remember to) on social media to share information. The full calendar of events is a work in progress as I get accustomed to the new format. Individuals, businesses, and organizations are encouraged to share their own events as well. Click here to submit an upcoming family-friendly event!
  • Providing resources for families- My hope is that the local Guides that the previous publishers and I have developed serve as practical resources for local families.
  • Sharing event recaps- I’ve grown fond of documenting fun, local events and sharing recaps on social media through videos and photos. I aim to balance both experiencing moments and capturing them.
  • Hyper-local, cost-effective advertising & marketing- I understand the importance of advertising and marketing for small businesses and organizations, and I am mindful of limited budgets. I work with locally owned businesses and organizations to develop effective methods for reaching their audiences. You will see local Sponsored posts on social media from time to time. You may also see other ads on the social media pages, which are from Macaroni KID HQ’s National Campaigns. Sponsored content ensures publications remain free for our audience and helps to cover licensing fees. Advertising options include:
    • Sponsored e-newsletters
    • Sponsored articles
    • Dedicated e-blasts
    • Social media posts
    • Ad space on the website
    • Guide sponsorship
    • Featured calendar listings
    • Featured business directory listings
    • In-person events
